My dad might not be my real dad?
Okay, so earlier this morning on facebook this one girl Called Heather messaged me basically saying she had a sister from my mom, which would equal me. That my mom had a child with her dad. I don’t know if I believe her or not because I never even talked to her before, but she knew my mom’s name. I know its not that hard to find out, but she also said she was from Saddle Lake. My mom used to babysit there and she used to live there for a while when she was younger, so it could be possible. I know all my life I felt left out of my family at least from my supposedly dad. When I was little I only remember him in my life when my brother had been born, he always favored my brother over me. I always thought it was because I was a bad kid and that my brother was the better kid. I also phoned my best friend Sam who has been my friend since I was little asking her, if her mom would know because, My mom and her mom used to be friends a long time ago. So Sam phoned her mom and Sam’s mom said that she heard my mom Rebecca say that My dad Eric, wasn’t my real dad or something like that. I don’t know what to do because I cant just go up to my mom and be like is he my real dad, she’ll most likely deny it all and I cant just believe some girl who says that she’s my sister that I don’t even know anything about. I mean if what Heather says is true, then a lot of things add up with who I thought was my father all my life. I just don’t know what to do now, how could I find out who my real father is????????
Yes I understand my real dad is the one who was with me all my life. Honestly still this changes my life completly. My brother would only be my half brother, my dads family is not my real family. This "heather" girl would be my step sister and her Dad’s family would also be mine too, thats if she is telling the truth. This just pisses me off, Im 18 now, its like half of my life has been a lie. Why try to tell me now? My "real" dad should have been there when I needed him through my childhood, when the dad I have now was never there.

Your real father is the guy who signed the birth certificate and claimed to be your father. Even if he favored your brother over you, your "supposedly dad" Eric is the only one you’ve ever known so he’s your "real" father even if he isn’t your biological father.
As for this chick Heather…you need to sit down with your mother and tell her what you’ve heard. (I find it odd that you’re discussing this with everyone but her.) She has the right to know what people are saying about her and you have the right to know if you have other siblings.

In my belief, a father is the person that raised you. Although if your "father" does know that could be a reason for his preferential treatment of your brother. But it could just be that he wanted a boy and now he has one. The only thing you can do is ask your mother. Tell her what you know and say that the time has come for the truth. Then make your decisions from what your mother tells you. Good luck!

just sit down with ur mom and tell her u had someone contact u saying u were half sisters, im sure she will come clean..i to have a half sister i have never met, my dads 1st daughter, my dad has told me so much about her and i have tried to find her for years and always failed until last easter she was killed in a car accident, so if your mom confirms it true, take the time to get to no ur sis cuz others are not as lucky as u

Talk to Heather again and ask her why she never talked to you before.
Most likely she will have a reasonable explanation .. Now use that and give it a thought..Does it make sense? After that start dropping hints to your "dad". Talk to him about something like tv and right after every sentence say "dad". For example, "Its good day today day"..See his reaction, if he reacts to it kind of odd or mad or anything unsual, he might not be your dad.Ok to find out who your real dad is, you have to find yur birth certificate if you can but if you cant look at your mom’s important papers like passports or you can even look for pictures. If thats still dont help, you need to ask.

who put clothes on your back? put food in your belly? was there when you were being a brat? who was the person who you grew up calling dad?
face it if you had a different dad he is not much of one now is he?
it take a couple of minutes to father a child. but a life time to be a dad to a child! be thankful for the one you called dad since you were a little girl.
